What this product is.
CORE DRIVE 40-40 is a recycled-HDPE, membrane-backed gravel grid with a 40 mm nominal depth and cell width. Selection still depends on formation, traffic, turning, sub-base and full installation detail.
Codes and formats.
Verified specifications.
Values shown here are limited to the current source record. A stated data gap is safer than merging legacy or conflicting product information.
Where it can be considered.
- Shared drives
- Residential parking
- Regular private access
- Turning areas subject to project review
- Gravel forecourts
Where judgment is required.
A deeper grid is not a substitute for a suitable sub-base.
Stationary HGV turning, wheel spin and braking remain risks.
Edge restraint, aggregate grading, fill level and maintenance are required.
Traffic and gradient must be assessed for the actual project.
Sequence the interfaces.
- 01
Prepare and compact the project-designed sub-base and install any specified separation or reinforcement layer.
- 02
Install continuous edge restraint and place the published 5–10 mm bedding layer to a uniform level.
- 03
Lay the panels with the attached membrane downward, connect sheets and cut cleanly around fixed interfaces.
- 04
Fill the cells completely with compatible angular aggregate before allowing traffic onto the panels.
- 05
Compact, top up and dress the surface; maintain the published fill level during use.

CORE DRIVE 40-40 questions.
How is 40-40 different from 40-30?
The verified distinction is nominal depth: 40 mm rather than 30 mm. Suitability still comes from the complete project design.
Can it be used for commercial parking?
For regular commercial or public traffic, compare CORE COMMERCIAL and review the traffic and turning regime with CORE.
What aggregate is used?
The current guidance recommends compatible angular aggregate with a published maximum size of 20 mm.
