Sub-base reinforcement
Reinforce granular bases and sub-bases with CORE GEOCELL.
CORE’s sub-base reinforcement system uses CORE GEOCELL within a granular base or sub-base. The three-dimensional cells confine suitable angular aggregate, reduce lateral movement and help spread load through the layer.

THE PRIMARY PRODUCTCORE GEOCELLCORE GEOCELL is the physical product used to reinforce the base or sub-base. The application is not a separate CORE product range.View CORE GEOCELLSuitable for
- Roads and yards
- Paved or resin-bound build-ups
- Weak or variable formation
- Commercial landscape works
Common applications
- Sub-base reinforcement
- Formation improvement
- Hard landscape build-ups
- Construction platforms
How it works
- 01
CORE GEOCELL is expanded over the prepared formation or supporting layer.
- 02
The cells are filled with suitable angular aggregate, which is confined within the geocell structure.
- 03
Cellular confinement limits lateral movement and helps spread loads through the base or sub-base.
- 04
Where the project requires it, CORE GEOTEXTILE or CORE GEOGRID can be added beneath the geocell for separation or further reinforcement.

Typical build-up
CORE GEOCELL is the cellular layer. CORE GEOTEXTILE or CORE GEOGRID is added only where the project requires it.

Before you specify
The correct CORE GEOCELL cell depth, infill and overall build-up depend on formation, loading and drainage.
A reinforced build-up is not a universal substitute for a fixed depth of unreinforced aggregate.

Discuss this componentQuestions
How does CORE GEOCELL reinforce a sub-base?
CORE GEOCELL is installed within a granular base or sub-base, where the cellular layer confines compatible aggregate and helps limit lateral movement.
Does the system include geotextile and geogrid?
CORE GEOTEXTILE and CORE GEOGRID are separate products. They may be used beneath or within the build-up where separation or additional reinforcement is required.
What information is needed to review a reinforced base?
Send the formation or CBR information, loading and traffic, proposed surface, aggregate, levels, drainage and edge conditions. CORE will identify any important gaps.
Tell us about your project
Send us your brief, drawings or site information. Our technical team will help identify the right CORE product or system and the information needed to move the project forward.
